There are so many bloggers and business owners that do not realise the importance of building an email list when they’re first start an online business.

What is an Email List?

An email list is a special list of names and email addresses of people who gave you permission to send them updates and promotions from your business.

You can build your email list inside an email marketing software such as cheetah builder in Builderall and send bulk email notifications automatically to your subscribers old and new.

Because your subscribers have visited your blog or website, they most likely have verified their identity by clicking on a link (opt in page/squeeze page).

Having shown they are interested in what you have to offer they are more likely to convert into long term paying customers.

No matter what type of business you operate, an email list is the most important element of a successful marketing strategy. With that list, you can promote your business, and showcase your products.

Your business needs to attract potential customers and this can be done by the use of opt-in forms/ Squeeze pages in you blog/website to simply to attract sign ups, experienced marketers use lead magnets to generate leads. You can also combine pop‑up forms and Facebook ads to start growing your email list.

Use what ever method you have and do this as often as you can. Getting yourself noticed online its a huge task I know, but to do so will increase your traffic and increase your sales.

I will cover this subject next week in more detail as I feel it’s such an important strategy to have.

So what about autoresponders?

A autoresponder is the software that stores your subscribers details and allows you to communicate with them via email.

When you use autoresponders, a lot of your email marketing gets automated

if you set things up correctly, subscribers receive key messages from your business without you having to worry about manually sending these messages out.

So the main benefit of autoresponders is clear: they save you time– a lot of it.

Not only that however, autoresponder emails can generate a lot of income for your business — if you’re clever in how you use them.

In my business I always use Aweber, they are an email marketing service provider with over 100,000 small business clients world wide. They help people keep in touch with the subscribers who have requested to be on their mailing list.

Getting Started with Aweber

When it comes to signing up, Aweber has a big green button where you click to start your 30-day free trial period. Here you provide basic information such as your name, address, and credit card information.

After this, AWeber provides a welcome video that takes you through the account set up, creating your first list and customizing your confirmation email.

The user interface has a logical menu with four sections. The first section displays the main components of the system. This includes the subscribers, messages, and lists.

The second section shows the types of help available including webinars, online guides, and videos.

The third section highlights subscriber statistics while the forth part displays recently sent messages and statistics.

What is an Opt-In Page

Your opt-in page is basically a simple page used to offer someone something for free in exchange for their contact information such as first name and most importantly, their email address. Try not to be tempted to ask for anything else like their full name as this will drive potential customers away. Keep it short and simple.

Acquiring the email address is absolutely fine and you are going to therefore increase the conversions and get more of your visitors opting into your list.

What is the most powerful word in marketing today?

For to to get people interested in your opt-in page, you are going to need something of value in exchange for their email address. This will need to be something FREE, this could be a free PLR ebook, a report, a free video or a free case study, what ever it is that you are offering, it has to be free and provide your customer with value. Something that might help them solve a problem they may have. Take Dean Hollands free books, The Iceberg Effect and Affiliate Marketers Playbook it’s not much sense if you are offering these items for free to people who are interested in the Keto Diet, they are just not going to be interested. So it’s very important that you target your audience correctly and appropriately.

As an affiliate marketer, you may not have anything when you first start your online business, so you must make sure that whoever you are choosing to promote has the resources at your disposal for you to use as an ethical bride ( the free gift ).

That said, when you have an autoresponder, an opt-in page and something of value to offer for opting in, then you are well on the way of building your very own email list of targeted ideal prospects.

After you’ve created your amazing new opt-in freebie for your email list or newsletter, you will need to make sure it gets the visibility it needs to do it’s job. Nobody can respond to your lead magnet if they can’t see it.

There is no point in having a landing page if it has no specific purpose. Whether your goal is to increase your email signups , make money, invite attendees for your webinar, etc., traffic is the secret sauce that will make your landing page goals come true.

Once you get traffic to your landing pages, you would want that traffic to keep coming. A continuous stream of traffic means more leads and more opportunities to generate sales.

There are lots of people who will tell you how to create a lead magnet, and about what can qualify as a lead magnet — but how do you get people to it? Here are some places and ways that you can promote your email list/newsletter opt-in.

Use your website to promote your lead magnet:

  • On your home page
  • In an exit popup (this works from a conversion standpoint but may reduce your SEO benefit)
  • Sidebar of your blog
  • Footer
  • About page
  • Resources page
  • Throughout your content, whenever relevant, link to your landing page
  • Blog content write about things related to your lead magnet and promote it in the post
  • Your author bio

Promote your lead magnet on your social channels:

  • In social posts
  • Instead of linking to your home page, link to your landing page in your social profiles
  • Add a tab to your Facebook page for your lead magnet
  • Offer it as a freebie to your Facebook group members
  • Add your lead magnet to the Media Section on your Linked In Profile
  • Paid ads on your social channels
  • Create a video on YouTube to promote your lead magnet and link to your landing page in the description
  • Share it in Facebook and Linked In groups that allow self-promotion (Engage with the group and provide value before promoting yourself. Be sure to follow the group’s rules. It may be only allowed in certain threads on certain days.)
  • Update your cover photos to include your lead magnet image and call to action

Other places to promote your lead magnet:

  • Your email signature
  • Business cards
  • Guest blog posts and/or your author bio on guest blogs
  • Your signature in forums (if allowed)
  • Offer it as a gift to your audience during speaking engagements
  • Your professional network
  • Business organizations & networking groups
  • Ask other people in complementary but not competitive niches if they’d like to offer it as a free bonus to their audience. Reciprocate and share their offer with your audience. (Examples of complementary niches: wedding florist, photographer, dj, wedding planners, decorators, etc.)

There are tons and tons of ways you can promote your lead magnet, the above are just samples! Use your imagination and be creative.
